Hello ,this is my first post here. My dad and I have recently bought a '92 Jaguar Xjs V12. The engine runs smooth and everything appears to be alright. Does anyone have any experiences owning or working on this car/engine?

I hear they run great when they start.

I think most issues with Jag V12s have to do with how much of a boat anchor they are, and issues with not running and leaking. If you have one that runs well and doesn't leak(much), I'd just let it keep doing its thing and follow maintenance schedules on it. Plus any action items that people who've worked on them will mention.
It's not carbureted, which helps.

just watch the temp gauges, worst thing you can do it get them hot.
I still prefer the 6 cylinders, but that is just me. V12 is a very smooth ride and good enough on the power too

Most engines are like that, I find.

You'll be sorrrrry....This is a land where things are not as they seem and before you realize there is no escape, you are trapped.....This, my friends, is the OPPO ZONE.
Welcome.

Theres an Oppo in NYC with an XJS V12 if Im not mistaken. Havent seen him post in a while, but cooling was a major issue for him.
Overhaul all hoses, the water pump, radiators and reservoirs sooner rather than later. It might cost a lot, but it costs a lot more to not do it now.

Duuuude! Love XJS', and especially the V12s. I really rather want one.
No actual experience with them, but I'd love to hear how it treats you. I daily an XJ40 4.0l manual so there's a couple of parts in common or at least similar between the two. Rear suspension is one of them :) Here's mine, any pics of yours?
